Company Awarded for Excellence

MIDROC Gold Mine S.C., a member of MIDROC Ethiopia Technology Group, received an Award of Excellence and a Trophy from the hands of the President of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, Ato Girma Wolde Giorgis for its outstanding performance.

With the main objective of enhancing the capacity and upholding the efficiency of companies, an Ethiopian Quality Award Organization, a newly established local Award Organization, dedicated prizes for three service-rendering companies including   MIDROC Gold Mine S.C. in appreciation of their contributions to the country.  

President Girma Wolde Giorgis, at the Award handing over ceremony, said that business and service-rendering organizations should focus on changes that ascertain quality; emphasizing the fact that quality production goes beyond needs of customers, and its role to ensure the development of the nation.

Dr. Arega Yirdaw, Chief Executive Officer of MIDROC Technology Group, after receiving the Award, representing MIDROC Gold Mine S.C., expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the opportunity provided by Sheikh Mohammed H. Al-Amoudi, the Owner and Chairman of MIDROC Ethiopia, to make it possible to achieve the highest standard in the mining industry and contribute its share for the development of the country by way of his huge investment in the Company.  He also expressed sincere admiration to the employees of MIDROC Gold Mine S.C. who are behind the success of the Company.

MIDROC Gold Mine S.C., the only industrial gold mine in Ethiopia, had earlier received a Special Award and Certificate following recognition for its exceptional accomplishment in the year 2009 among export customers of the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia.  It was also the winner of the “Export Day Award” of the year 2008.

The Company has been engaged in extensive gold exploration projects in Metekel, in the Regional State of Benishangul Gumuz.  It is to be remembered that CEO, Dr. Arega Yirdaw, some weeks back, has signed an agreement with the Ethiopian Minister of Mines and Energy, Ato Alemayehu Tegenu, for gold mining area in Guji Zone, the Regional State of Oromia.
